Terms of service

Cleave Last updated: 21 October 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Insetlab, LLC ("Cleave", "we", "us") for your use of the Cleave app and cleaveai.app. By creating an account or using Cleave you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Cleave.

1. Who can use Cleave

You must be at least 16. If you are 16 or 17, a parent or guardian must have agreed to you using Cleave. You must give accurate information about yourself, because your plan is built from it.

2. Cleave is not medical advice

Cleave gives general information about training and nutrition. It is not a medical service. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition, and it does not replace a doctor, dietitian or other qualified professional.

  • Speak to a doctor before starting a training or nutrition plan, and in particular if you are pregnant, have a heart, joint, metabolic or other medical condition, have or have had an eating disorder, are recovering from an injury, or take medication that affects exercise or diet.
  • Stop and get medical help if you feel pain, dizziness, shortness of breath or faintness.
  • Plans, coach replies, calorie and macro figures and meal photo estimates are produced by software, including AI. They can be wrong. Always check ingredients against your own allergies and needs.

You train and eat at your own risk and are responsible for exercising with correct form, with suitable equipment and within your own limits.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in details secret and for what happens in your account. Tell us at hello@cleaveai.app if you think someone else has used it. One person per account.

4. Subscriptions and payment

Some features need a paid subscription, sold as Cleave Premium through Apple's App Store.

  • Price and period. Shown in the app before you buy. Monthly and annual plans are offered.
  • Free trial. If a trial is offered, it turns into a paid subscription at the end unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
  • Renewal. A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Payment is taken from your Apple account.
  • Cancelling. Cancel in your Apple account settings: Settings, your name, Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. After you cancel you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and refunds are decided by Apple under its policies. Nothing here limits refund or withdrawal rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived.
  • Price changes. We will tell you in advance, and Apple will ask for your agreement where it requires it.

5. Using Cleave

We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Cleave for your own non-commercial purposes, under these terms.

You agree not to:

  • use Cleave for anything unlawful or to harm, harass or mislead other users,
  • copy, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit Cleave or its content,
  • reverse engineer the app or try to get at its source code, except where the law allows this despite the restriction,
  • collect data from Cleave by automated means, or use its content to train AI models,
  • interfere with the service, bypass its security or its payment and access controls,
  • upload content that you have no right to use, or that is unlawful, hateful or sexually explicit.

6. Your content

You keep ownership of what you put into Cleave: your logs, measurements, photos, messages and feedback. You give us a worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and display it only as needed to provide Cleave to you and, for what you choose to share, to your friends in the app. That licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from backup copies kept for the period set out in the Privacy Policy.

If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without owing you anything.

7. Friends, nudges and the leaderboard

If you connect with other users, they can see your name, profile photo, rank and training totals. Be respectful. We may remove content or restrict features for anyone who misuses them.

8. Our content

The Cleave app, its design, text, plans, artwork, rank sculptures and badges belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. Exercise demonstrations and food data come from third parties and are used under their licences, credited in the app under About.

9. Health and other third-party services

Cleave works with Apple Health, Sign in with Apple and Apple's notification and payment services. Your use of those is governed by Apple's terms. We are not responsible for services we do not run.

10. Changes and availability

We keep developing Cleave and may add, change or remove features. We aim to keep it available but do not promise it will always be, or that it will be free of errors. We may suspend it for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.

11. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Cleave and delete your account at any time in Settings, Account, Delete account. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple; cancel that in your Apple account.

We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we stop providing Cleave. Where it is reasonable we will give you notice first.

12. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, Cleave is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of plans, estimates and AI output. We do not promise any particular result from using Cleave.

13. Limit of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or injury or health problems arising from training or eating according to content in Cleave. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Cleave in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 50 if greater.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or your rights as a consumer under mandatory law in the country where you live.

14. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Cleave or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it, and is not responsible for any claims relating to it, including product liability, legal compliance and intellectual property claims. If Cleave fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. You confirm that you are not in a country under a US government embargo and are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use of Cleave must also comply with the App Store Terms of Service.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States. The state and federal courts in Sheridan County, Wyoming have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live and may bring a claim in its courts.

Write to us first at hello@cleaveai.app. Most problems are solved that way.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using Cleave after that, you accept the new terms. If you do not accept them, stop using Cleave and delete your account.

17. General

If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term, that is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to a successor that takes over Cleave.
