Logging a set in two moves
Cleave
The moment you log a set is the worst moment to use a phone. You are out of breath, one hand is chalky, and the rest clock is running.
So the workout screen in Cleave asks for as little as possible.
Rulers, not keyboards
Weight and reps are two rulers. You slide to the number and let go. There is no keyboard to open and no field to tap into. The long ticks pull slightly as you pass them, so round numbers are easy to land on without looking closely.
One button
Under the rulers there is one white button: Complete set. Tap it and the set is saved and the rest timer is already counting. A double tap does not log two sets.
Without opening the app
An active workout stays on the Lock Screen, with the current exercise and the rest time. You can check it between sets without finding the app again.
When the plan does not fit the gym
If a machine is taken, swap the exercise from the same screen. The workout continues from there.
None of this is clever. It is the difference between logging every set and giving up on logging by week three.
